DOKfilm im Roten Saal zeigt den Dokumentarfilm „Becoming Kim“
Braunschweig.
In der Reihe „DOKfilm im Roten Saal“ zeigt das städtische Kulturinstitut, Schlossplatz 1, am Donnerstag, 17. September, um 19.30 Uhr, den Dokumentarfilm „Becoming Kim". In ihrem neuesten Werk richtet die Leipziger Regisseurin Susanne Kim die Kamera radikal und liebevoll auf ihr eigenes Leben. Vor 13 Jahren ließen sie und ihr Mann Jeong Rae „Kimchi & Potato“ in ihre Eheringe gravieren – als Symbol für die Verbindung ihrer Kulturen. Doch als Jeong Rae beschließt, in seiner südkoreanischen Heimat ein Hähnchenrestaurant zu eröffnen, bleibt Susanne mit der gemeinsamen Tochter in Leipzig zurück. Die Ehe steht vor einer Zerreißprobe. Der Film ist ein intimes, klug inszeniertes Selbstporträt über Träume, Zweifel und gesellschaftliche Rollenbilder. Mit einer Mischung aus schonungsloser Ehrlichkeit, Performance-Kunst und humorvollen Zwischentönen erforscht die Filmemacherin, ob ihre Liebe eine Zukunft hat. Eine universelle Familiengeschichte, die zeigt, wie wir im Alltag an unseren eigenen Idealen scheitern können.
